The village of Klardasht is situated in the north of Iran, south of the Caspian Sea, near the Alborz mountains. Kelardasht rugs are made of soft quality wool and last long. Decorative figures such as flowers and paisleys are often scattered in the field of rugs. The motifs on these rugs normally consists of a hexagon surrounded by white primitve lines and sometimes even a scarab in the middle. The background colour is often brickred with dark blue and brown as dominating colours.
