Sirjan rugs are produced by a sub-branch of the Afshar tribe of south-central Iran who live near the city of Kerman, Iran. The Afshar tribe originates in the Caucasus mountains of today's Azerbaijan who settled in the heart of ancient Persia. Until today, design and production are strongly influenced by the Caucasian rug style. Designs are often geometric and sometimes feature floral motif as well. Usually, these rugs are of small size between 5 x 3 and 8 x 5 ft.
